The goal of ECDC is to maintain open lines of communication.  All individuals are encouraged to first open a dialogue with the individual involved before addressing the issue through the grievance procedure.

Any parent who wishes to lodge an informal complaint must follow the following procedure:

1.         Present the complaint directly to the individual involved.

2.         If the issue is not resolved, present the complaint to the Director of the school.

3.         If the issue is not resolved, present the complaint to the Co-Chair of the Parent Committee.

4.         If the issue is not resolved, the Parent Committee Co-Chair will present the complaint, the response, and the proposed resolution at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.

5.         Informal complaints will not go into the personnel files.

Any parent, who wishes to lodge a formal complaint, after unsatisfactory resolution from the informal complaint, must follow this procedure:

1.         Contact the Co-Chair of the Parent Committee.

2.         Within one week, present a written, signed statement to the Co-Chair.

3.         A copy of the complaint will be presented to the teacher or the individual involved.  He/she will present a written response to the Co-Chair within one week.

4.         The complaint and the individual responses will be sent to the Board.  A special meeting of the Board will be called to resolve the issue.  A quorum must be present.

5.         The complaint, the response, and the resolution will be put in the individual's personnel file.

6.         If either party is not satisfied with the Board's resolution, he/she will be given the opportunity to present his/her case at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.
